President’s Day, 2022

When I saw this photo that was taken
and posted by my good friend and photographer
Augustine Hart, I immediately knew that
I had to use it with a poem I’d write
to celebrate President’s Day.

I am happy and proud
to live in the greatest country
in the world,
the United States Of America

we are blessed to live in a country
that gives us the freedom to express
ourselves with words, with art and
photography, with music and with dance

for the most part,
our Presidents have been men
of compassion, truth and dignity

each of our Presidents
have left their mark
on the Presidency
and I am proud to be
an American
