you all know me as the Tennessee Poet
but because I’m from Tennessee
you also think I’m a moonshiner

is it because of my jeans and suspenders?
wearing my baseball cap backwards?
My silly country boy smile?
or because I’m standing by a still?

I am the Tennessee Poet
whatever else I do
is between me and my dogs
