Poets write about
Influences on themselves
Influences that affect their lives
Love, my wife, death, sorrow, pain
Music, memories,
Our childhood, anger
All these things have influenced us
In some way, good or bad
They are all weaved into the fabric
Of our lives, becoming parts of us
All that we are is all we have been
Aging becomes constant aggravation
Even small tasks require concentration
We write what we know
So I write about my love for my wife
I write about my pain, my memories
My music, my wants and needs
I write about my darkness
And how I am affected
This is my life
This is my poetry
This is The Tennessee Poet

When pen takes to paper with a germ of an idea, we follow this lead. Life is a learning curve painted in word form by the poet within.

A lovely honest poem, Walt. I also write about things that invoke great emotion in me when it comes to writing. I have written about pain and sadness as well as great joy and happiness.

We all write what we feel. That’s what makes our poetry great 😉
