Awake In A Dream
I’m awake in a dream
stuck in between
at least I hope it’s a dream
and not Covid 19
I toss and I turn
try to fall back asleep
but the dream holds me tight
I’ll be awake all night
It’s not even a happy dream
with apple pie and ice cream
instead it’s a dreary dream
I keep hearing something scream
there are other people awake in my dream
but they are all ugly and mean
I tried to be nice and offered them beans
but that didn’t work and I still hear their screams
I need to sleep and end this dream
all of the people are starting to scream,
“Go to sleep, go to sleep and end this damn dream
we’re tired of being awake in your dream”
