Keeping It Safe

who we are
is what we are
we have become
what we have done

it doesn’t matter
where you’re from
you will become
what you have done

if you’re like me
you’ll say a prayer
to end this poem
before it’s done

for I have become
what I have done
and what I’ve done
is way beyond dumb

so I took this poem
and put it away
keeping safe
until today
