Along The Way ~ A Journey Through Life

This was my second post on my blog on April 8, 2017. The first was a
welcome post. I thought my new followers would enjoy it.

“Life has a beginning and an end. Join me as we celebrate the journey along the way. Along the way we crawl, we walk,we run, we dance. We laugh, we cry, we win, we lose. We love, we hate, we tolerate, we celebrate. We stumble, we fall, we rise
to do it again. We learn, we remember, we forgive and forget. We make mistakes, we make amends. We sin, we pray, we say Amen.” ~Walt Page

So many things happen along the way in our lives. How we deal with them is the basis for our character. It defines us. It is who we are. How we deal with love, with loss, with rejection, with success helps mold us. Can we handle the pressures we face along the way? Can we handle the terrible people and events we run into along the way. Can we handle our mistakes? Can we forgive and forget those who have wronged or hurt us? Forgiving can be easy with time, but forgetting usually won’t happen.

As the years I have left in my life become fewer, I find myself remembering events that have happened to me along the way in my life. Some of those events bring a smile, some bring a tear, some bring a deep heartfelt desire to have done those events differently. I was raised with a freedom of choice to decide the direction of my life, with no pressure to be this or be that. I was taught that the measure of a man was how he treated others. I was taught to respect others beliefs and opinions. Along the way these lessons learned have guided me.

My travels along the way through life have been memorable. I am who I am because of my upbringing, the love and the losses that I have experienced and a lifetime of memories.

How has your journey been along the way through life?

Everything Is Different Now

In life
There are always changes
How we handle them
Is a true measure of our character

I have had good changes
And I have had bad
But each time
I held my head up and said

Everything is different now”

The Greatest Gift

The greatest gift anyone can give
Is the gift of themselves

The gift of love that two people share
Is a magical gift
One of destiny
Loyalty, trust, passion
And the gift of themselves
To each other

You cannot change yesterday.
You can only make the most of today
And look with hope toward tomorrow

Peace is found not in what surrounds you
But in what you hold within

The Magic Of Music

There’s a magic in music
A feeling of joy
Songs that bring memories
With each beat of your heart

A toe tapping rhythm
That your parents called noise
It starts in your head
Travels down through your heart

Snapping your fingers
Tapping your feet
Lifting your spirits
Bringing a smile

Music is love
Music is life
Music will lift you
And make everything right

Rock or Country
Slow sexy jazz
Classical and New Age
Gospel and Big Band

Your choice doesn’t matter
They all bring the same joy
Let your heart feel the magic
Let your lips form a smile

Let the music embrace you
If just for awhile
Let the magic of music
Show you the way

You’ll find that the music
Will brighten your day

My Wish For You in 2018

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making
new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing
yourself, changing yourself, changing your world.
You’re doing things you’ve never done before,
and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.

So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for
myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing
mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before.
Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good
enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love,
or work or family or life.  Whatever it is you’re scared
of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and

Make it happen. Do it now.

Happy New Year and Thank You to all my friends… old, new and yet to be!

The Wisdom In The Silence

There is wisdom in the silence
And peace in the breeze
The quietness of the evening surrounds me
And I listen for the night songs to begin

If you stay quiet, you can hear them
Playing softly in your head
They are carried on the evening breeze
To soothe your weary soul

As I walk along the shore, my troubles melt away
The moon is bright, the air is sweet
The jasmine blooms at night here
The air is filled with scented dreams

The evening becomes a dream world
My heart is filled with love
My mind is so much clearer now
Listening to the wisdom in the silence

What Might Have Been

Have you ever wondered
What might have been
If you had done things differently?

Have you ever dreamed
About what could have been
If only you had made better decisions?

Would your life be different
Than it is now
If you had not done something?

We all have those thoughts
We all wish we had done something differently
We all wish we could change things
But we can’t change what’s in the past

Thoughts and dreams often
Vanish with the sunrise
But the new dawn brings new hope
New opportunity
New chances

What we do today matters
What is truly important
Is what IS…

Stand Back Up

There are times in life when we’re beaten
When we’re ready to quit and want to give up

These are the times when we need to stop
And tell ourselves to stand back up

When a dark cloud is hanging over our head
And all we want to do is hide in our bed

When our body is telling us “stay down, stay down”
That’s when we need to stand back up

Morning Light

With the morning light comes new life
New beginnings to replace old endings

And with each day that comes
We go on
We learn to live again

In the morning light we see ourselves
We realize that we are alive
We are reminded that it’s all right

We need a little loving with the morning light
A little reminder that it’s all right
