My Wish For You in 2018

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making
new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing
yourself, changing yourself, changing your world.
You’re doing things you’ve never done before,
and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.

So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for
myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing
mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before.
Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good
enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love,
or work or family or life.  Whatever it is you’re scared
of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and

Make it happen. Do it now.

Happy New Year and Thank You to all my friends… old, new and yet to be!

Walt’s Writings First Christmas

I have so many thoughts about Christmas this year. It has always been very important to me, since we celebrate the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. Like many others, I also enjoy the music, the light displays and decorations, the cards and wishes from friends and family and the softness that seems to permeate our world.

Christmas is a time for family and friends, a time for giving and a time for special memories. As I celebrate my first Christmas for my blog, Walt’s Writings,

I celebrate all of you, my friends, followers and fellow bloggers. You have accepted me into your community of writers and poets and I have made many wonderful friends and learned much from all of you. Yes, the photo above is really me, and I call it Santa Cool!

The most treasured Christmas gifts are not material things, but gifts of listening, of showing kindness, and of giving time. You have given all of these to me, The magic of Christmas to me is not in the presents, but in the friendship and acceptance that you have shown my writing and poetry. Christmas magic is silent. You don’t hear it, you feel it, you know it and you believe in it. You have believed in me. I have felt it and I know it. For that, I am forever grateful.

I hope that all of you get to spend time with people you love this Christmas and that you do something that makes you happy. May the magic and heavenly gifts of Christmas gladden and fill your hearts with joyful songs, cheerfulness and laughter. Do as much good as you can, as long as you can, any way you can, wherever you can, for anyone you can, until you no longer can. Merry Christmas dear friends!
