Night Dream Meadow

Often when I sleep I dream
I go to a place I call Night Dream Meadow
Where the moon is bright
And my heart is light
And I listen to the voices of the night

I walk through the meadow
Following the path
Leading me to the Rainbow Bridge
Where I’m greeted by the dogs I’ve loved

Rusty, General, Duke and Belle
Dakota, Willow and Rose
The air is filled with sounds of love
A favorite dream from Heaven above

I stay for awhile then move along
Mom and Dad are waiting to see their son
Many hugs, much laughing
A few tears of joy
Hugs from grandparents, uncles and aunts

And then I see her smiling at me
She was again 17, her age when we met
It was then in my dream
I became young too

We walked through the meadow
Holding hands like old times
The love that we felt
Will always be with us

But then the sun started to rise
The meadow faded into the mist
My dream was over
But the memories remain

My Writing Is More Than Words

As writers, we all use words as building blocks
Put together in sentences

My writing is more than just words
The words come from my heart
The writing comes from love
So much more than just words

When I hear the sounds of the night
The wind through the trees
The laughter of my grandsons
I start putting them to words

Words that describe how they make me feel
About love and life
Good times and bad
I write what I feel

Anyone can put words on paper
But can anyone create images with those words?
Memories in your own mind?

I write from almost 74 years of life
Ups and downs
Around and around
My words are my life

When you sit down to write
Let your mind fly free
Let the memories caress you
Like mine have with me

So open your mind
Let your fantasies unwind
They are more than mere words
If you just take the time

Whether your thoughts or mine
We’re all much the same
So write down your words
And your memory will remain

Take The Time To Enjoy A Sunset

There is no greater love than
that of two people at sunset,
caressed by the soft country breezes
while they are calmed by the sound
of nickering horses at feeding time

There is no greater love than
that shared by those who love the country
and the beauty and power of nature

Take the time to listen to the songs
of the animals

Take the time to let the
beauty of the countryside at sunset
caress your soul

Take the time
for there is no greater love

Meadows Of Light

Meadows of light
That glow in the dark
Fields full of fireflies
That brighten our hearts

We remember our childhood
Standing in fields
Trying to catch them
With laughter and squeals

We’d put them in jars
By the bed in our room
Our own meadows of light
When clouds covered the moon

Now that we’re older
They still brighten the dark
Those meadows of light
Live on in our hearts
