The Empty Nest

There is such wonderful art
to be found in Nature. This photo
was taken by Augustine Hart,
an Adirondack Photographer and
good friend of mine. His photo
inspired this poem.

One has to wonder
what bird created this?
How many baby birds
grew strong and learned
to fly from this nest?

This nest is an example of amazing
construction and beauty
found in Nature.

When you walk through the woods
look around and enjoy Nature’s
beauty.

When I look at this photo
I see baby birds with wide open
beaks crying for food.
I see the pride in mama bird’s eyes,
I hear the babies contented squeals
as their stomachs as filled.

An empty nest?
You just need to look closer
and empty your mind.
