Haying Season

when you live in the country
fresh cut fields and bales of hay
are a familiar scene

hay is cut, dried and then baled
into round or square bales
this process starts in in early summer
and continues through the fall

hay is an important part of
feeding farm animals through
the winter months when the grass
is no longer growing

we buy 50-60lb square bales
from a local farmer who delivers
and stacks them in our barn
we usually buy 100-200 bales
each year, at prices ranging from
$5 – $5.50 a bale

welcome to life in the country
