So You Want To Be A Writer ~ Walt Page, The Tennessee Poet
There are no secrets
To being a writer
All you have to do is write
Everyday
Just write
Anything
It doesn’t have to make sense
Just write
You become a bread baker
By baking bread
You become a singer by singing
So write!
Over and over and over!
There’s no easy way
There’s only one way
So write
If the words don’t come easy
Stop
Don’t even try
You’re not a writer
If you are meant to be a writer
The words will come easily
If not, be a drummer
Or a guitar player
But not a writer

As long as you enjoy writing, keep on writing. I often go through periods that are difficult for me to write. It will get better Satyen.

A great poem, Walt. Poetry comes easily to me if I am in the mood. I haven’t been writing much lately as I am finalising the editing my new novel and there isn’t much spare time for anything else.

Maybe we can be a guitarist
and bake bread.
Maybe we can be a business person
And write poetry
Maybe we can even bake bread. 😊.
Life has many little ‘ginnels ‘ – paths.
