He was an unknown legend
A hardworking man
Always there for his family
Providing, teaching, protecting
He was their rock
Their pillar of strength
He taught them right from wrong
He had no medals
No awards
No celebrity status
But he had the love
And the respect
Of his family
To them
He was a legend
To me
He was my Dad

So many of our dads (and moms too) were the real heroes of the world. Unsung heroes. No one will ever know except those who loved them. Sad. Today’s politicians could learn a world from these humble, strong people. Quite a love poem, my friend.

So true Chris. I was looking through You Tube mix playlists and saw a song called Unknown Legend. I immediately wrote this for my Dad!

Inspiration comes in the strangest forms Walt some days ago I published a poem titled “I’m in the jailhouse now” which manifested itself from a Willie Nelson song titled “Seven year itch” never discard a thought as you never know when it will grow into a poem.

I do so appreciate your comments and suggestions Chris. And i am.very grateful for all your support and advice. I think of you as my mentor and close friend. I sm still “newbie” writing poetry and I am always learning. Your willingness to help is invaluable. I have one of my notebooks with potential poem topics, titles, bits of lines and/or phrases written down for future use. Thanks for all you do Chris!

Honest to God Walt I am humbled. I believe mentoring I believe is a two way street. Don’t we all learn from each other in some fashion or another. Linking up with you and your writing was believe me one of the better things I did that particular day, thank you again and good health to you and Susan.
