Heaven Or Hell ~ A Poem By Walt Page, The Tennessee Poet

I had a dream last night
I was shaking hands with the Holy Ghost
I was on a special “Pre-Death Tour”
Showing me both Heaven and Hell

Heaven was a beautiful place
Filled with light, music and love
Hell had been hot, loud and dark
Heavy metal music filled my head
And I was filled with a feeling
That Hell would be my choice

The Holy Ghost was a pleasant spirit
But I had needed some darkness in my life
And I would need more in death

I had become friends with the Devil
During our poetry challenges and
Our drum battle, and she was fun
I was tired of goodness and light
And had been seduced by her darkness

So I shook hands with the Holy Ghost
And headed back to the darkness of Hell
The Devil was waiting
And she welcomed me with open arms
As she whispered, “Welcome Home.
Come and meet my daughters.”

  1. I have never liked loud clubs (although I’m partial to traditional pubs), so, on the basis of the forgoing, I would rather be going to heaven than hell, although I can not tell where I shall be found. There is darkness in us all, for there can be no darkness without light. Best – Kevin
