My Old Colorado ~ A Poem By Walt Page, The Tennessee Poet

My body is like my old truck
Slowly rusting, but still useful
My knees are like worn out shock absorbers
My feel are like two tires filled with too much air
There’s a lot of mileage on this old body
Oh, the places I’ve been
And the sights I’ve seen
Memories created in this old truck
Just me and my Chevy Colorado
She’s 14 years old
Not bad for a truck
She’s always gotten me where I need to go
She’s kept me safe
In the wind, rain and snow
So I’ll keep on driving
My old Colorado

  1. I had an old Chevy cavalier convertible that I bought used in college for two thousand dollars. It made it all the way across the country from NC to NM and back the next year. Memories! Thanks for sharing this. Great reflection

  2. Great poem, Walt. Yes, many of us have put lot of mileage on out bodies. Yes, keep driving the old truck when it’s still working. We had an old spared truck and my husband had to remember taking it out for a drive every now and then. We too have to keep going so we won’t get too rusty… haha. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
