People say that age is just a number
They are so wrong
Age is so much more
Age is photographs and memories
Our beginning and our present
But age is not our end
Age is all we have been through
All we have survived
All we’ve won and all we’ve lost
Age is all the songs we’ve sung
All the places we’ve been
The things we’ve seen
Age is all we were and all we are
All that we have learned
All the scars we carry
That help tell our life story
Age is railroads and rivers
Whiskey and wild women
Age is so much more than just a number
Age is our life story

Loved the poem Walt. Interesting that you didn’t mention anything about pain. Maybe due to the whisky and woman, or writing checks our bodies can no longer cash

Thanks Steve. I didn’t want to overuse the pain card 😊

Such a wonderful poetic age of grace.

Brilliant, Walt! I’m a bit obsessed with age and how people treat it (especially getting older) at the moment, so this was a treat to read!

“Age is our life story.” I loved this. I think you have given me a brand new perspective on aging. It is an accumulation of many things! Wonderful, Walt! ~Kim

How very true. And I find I am looking back now, rather than forwards as I used to, because there is not much forwards left! Strange feeling! I remember the plans we used to make. Most of them never came to anything, but some of them did. Memories are strange things.mmi just live this poem Walt.
