The Old Man – A Poem By Walt Page, The Tennessee Poet

The old man sat alone in the dark
Waiting for the dream to come
The one of how things used to be
When she was his and he was free

He remembered his life in these castle walls
When all he saw was her
And the love they shared together
Each night before the dawn

They danced on the shore of the Sea of Dreams
Lost in their euphoria of what was meant to be
Outside the world was sleeping
Inside they were young and free

They danced all night until the dawn
And when the morning came
The old man sat upon his throne
And on his head they placed his crown
