Let Me Rock & Roll Again – A Poem By Walt Page, The Tennessee Poet

Take me back to when I was young
When my playing drums had just begun
Have a seat and enjoy my friends
And let me rock and roll again

Buddy Holly brought Peggy Sue
And I will rock out Wipeout for you
The Ventures are here, Richie Valens too
So let us rock and roll for you

Music is a part of me
Always has been and always will be
My performing days have come to an end
And all I want is to rock and roll again

  1. Do you ever get the chance to escape behind a drum kit on a good day? I have a friend who still plays his guitar when the arthritis and carpal tunnel lets him, even if it is only once a month. I hope you can still rock out occasionally!

  2. Oh Walt! This made me cry. Firstly because I feel the same way about my past, and what I used to do. Secondly because of the songs and people you mention. We had Peggy Sue on in the car only yeasterday, and we jelt on lressing the replay button to hear it over and over again. I cried then, too. I am getting a drum for Christmas, but it will be nothing like your drums. I just want to be able to make rhythm. I play the Natuve American Indian flute, and I want to make recordings, but with a drumbeat in the background. I don’t even know what sort of drum to get so will leave it to hubby. All the best to you Walt. X
