The Damage Is Done – A Poem By Walt Page, The Tennessee Poet

Years of running
Years of drumming
Mile after mile
Endless drum solos
Late nights
Early mornings
Two packs a day
For too many years
Junk food
COPD
Scoliosis
Hearing loss
15 surgeries
I did it to myself
Scars
Showing that I’ve lived
But the damage is done

  1. Love this Walt! As I get older and start to feel the consequences of a wild youth, I wonder if it was worth it. Then I remember how alive I felt at times, how much fun I had and I think, yeah, it was worth it. Other days, the pain fills me with regret. It is never simple, my friend, is it? Love to you!!!

    1. I’m ok Tanya, thanksy f but theor asking 🙂 It comes and goes. The meds help, but they make me tired. Sooner or later the doctors will figure out the problem and fix or control it. I still wake up every morning and I can still write, so it’s ok. Thanks for asking and caring 🙂
