A Poet’s Demons

Too many voices inside my head
Too many words that need to be said
Not enough time,” the neon sign read
Beware of the demons under your bed”

So I sat and I pondered
Recalling where I had wandered
How did the demons silence the voices?
What do I do now? What are my choices?

Why are the words eluding me now?
I need to find the answer somehow
The demons must realize they’re going to die
My voice is returning and words start to fly

The Gods of all poets have come to my aid
My demons are gone, my words have been saved
Thanks to the Gods who helped me this night
As I close the door and begin to write
