As I sit here in the dark I can hear the beating of my heart Words start forming in my mind Waiting to be written, line by line
When darkness comes and conditions are right By the light of a candle is how I write The candle flame flickers and shadows grow Both bring inspiration and poems glow
In olden times when poets wrote rhymes Words often came slowly, line by line The candles would burn as poets sipped wine The Golden Age of Poetry was a magical time
As I sit here in the dark I remember those times When by the light of a candle I slowly sipped wine
The image you paint makes me think you are are hunched over your table next to a raging fire, a skullcap firmly nestled on your head, and that you are writing with a bottle of ink and a quill
Simply superb Walt, as I sit here writing under my desk light. The finale is excellent.

This really is good, Walt. I know I am new to following your works, and this one feels different. Very good while being different.

I haven’t been and have no reason to. My recent poems have been coming late night, very early morning.

Well, one of the jobs of a poet is to create images in a reader’s mind 🙂 Thanks Steve!
