#Tanka: Stay Awake

Don’t go back to sleep
Your nightmares are there waiting
Try to stay awake
If your demons attack you
You will never wake again

    1. I just can’t control my sweetness. I’m like the old song Sugartime… Sugar in the morning, sugar in the evening, etc… Seriously though, I know what you’re going through and I care. It’s who I am and what I do. ☺💛

    1. Phew! Thank goodness! Every now and then (which incidentally was the name of one of my bands – The Now & Thens). Anyway sometimes I need to go outside of my comfort zone and show my dark side 😈 Thanks so much for appreciating that. ☺💛

      1. Thank you Susan. I have two copyrighted songs I write that we recorded at the RCA Studios in Montreal in the early 70s. We sold a few 45s locally and got some local radio play. One was Suzie Streaker and the other was written for my first wife called To Lee With Love. Lee died when she was only 55 from Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. We’d been married for 35 years. I was twice blessed when God gave me another wonderful woman. Susan and I will celebrate our 15th anniversary this September. ☺💛

      2. I love that you followed your passion and that you have had two loves of your life! I know the loss is hard. For me, it takes a while, but the sadness eventually mingles with a real gratitude for having known the person. Life is hard and full of weight, but also full of love, which you so beautifully convey in your poems.
